Longcross in £1.2m Dispute Prior to Administration
It has recently emerged that Longcross Construction were involved in a £1.2m dispute with supermarket top 4; Sainsbury’s before they fell into administration.
It is certainly no surprise that the contractor who specialised in the supermarket sector has fallen foul of a reduced level of work, competitive pricing and tightly squeezed margins as retailers in this sector have scaled back on their development pipelines in an effort to compete with smaller value retailers Aldi and Lidl.
Industry experts have called the failure of Longcross a ‘wake-up call’ for major retail clients that have been squeezing contractor margins as the sector has shrunk.
