Sir Robert McAlpine Faces £19.2m Claim Over Works On Emirates Stadium

Social landlord Newton Housing Trust is set to sue Sir Robert McAlpine over reported defects on a key worker housing development that has been built as part of the Emirates Stadium redevelopment in North London. The development known as the Ashburton Triangle houses a large number of key council workers for Islington Council including teachers and healthcare professionals and works were completed in September 2006.

Claims are being made that the contractor was in breach of contract and acted negligently when carrying out the works.

The trust have claimed that they have had to carry out extensive remedial works, but that additional defects remain including building envelope and fire strategy defects. They are now on the hunt for a new contractor to carry out the remaining remedial works after the contractor failed to put right all defects.
